Who Really Is David D’Souza?

David D’Souza is what you’d get if you mixed an old-school journalist, a PR strategist, a Mumbai born Goan storyteller with strong Maharashtrian traditions at heart, and a man who’s seen 56 countries but still trusts only his Pune vadapav misal pav guy.

He was born in a no-frills Dadar chawl where the walls had ears and the neighbours had opinions. David’s journey began with borrowed books and sharp ears for gossip.

Trained in newsrooms where editors barked louder than breaking news, David wrote stories, crafted PR campaigns, became an educator and media trainer. He filed his first news story nearly 45 years ago when journalists still respected facts and editors didn’t use emojis.

Through bylines and deadlines, he learnt that words had power, especially when you used them carefully, and occasionally, to win over a formidable woman from the advertising department of his same newspaper.

That woman was Alka. With her by his side, David leapt from the monsoon chaos of Mumbai to the marble floors and chandeliers of Dubai. The two spent nearly three decades in the Middle East, collecting stamps on passports and stories in their hearts. Together, they’ve lived through health scares, air miles, and miracles that now find their way into his wry, soul-soaked essays and regular.columns on Media, branding and Public Relations

He lives in Pune now and reflects more than reacts. Writes with humour that’s warm, pointed, and deeply desi while avoiding AI generated words and copy like buffet chicken in a cheap hotel. David believes every story should have a heart.

So, who is David D’Souza? A man still madly in love with Alka, with stories, and with the impossible beauty of a life truly lived.
